Panama - 'Islas Perlas' Accomodation

If you are interested in travelling to Islas Perlas on the Pacific side of Panama you are in for a treat.

If you like quiet clean beaches and a genuinely friendly small island feel then Contadora island in the Pearl Islands is worth checking out. You can find plenty of info on the islands on other sources but you probably won't realise there is a great B&B on Contadora Island itself-which is not yet in the guidebooks.

My wife and I stayed almost two weeks on Contadora at a fabulous little B&B called the Contador Island Inn.

WE rate this place as a 'real find' and the rooms and the property itself were clean, comfortable, quiet and the breakfasts were fabulous. It's only a stone's throw to the best beach (cacique) and restaurant (Villa Romantica) on the island. The rates represent great value for what you get and if you want a quiet, chilled out small island holiday far from madding crowd this might be for you.

There is some great marine wildlife and a wide variety of bird species including hawk, hummingbird, pelican, boobys and frigates to keep you company. Often in the evenings you' can see large stingrays venturing into the bright blue shallows searching for food. if you love the ocean, great seafood and interesting people then come to Contadora. It's quite a small island so don't expect a lot of entertainments-it's pretty much DIY. But you will meet some interesting characters.

The owners of the B&B are Kieth and Marion and they both are friendly interesting people in their own right. The manager Tony is also a great character and the source of info and insights to life on the island and life in Panama generally.
