I'm going to be in Belize in July and August and would like to learn how to dive. Any recommendations for good places? Does anyone know how Glover's compares to the Cayes? I'll probably be travelling alone and am looking for a cheaper option.
Thanks.

I don't think there's much comparison between most of the cayes and the diving at Glover's which is truly world class. Surprisingly, there's a budget option out there: Glover's Atoll Resort. Cost for camping is $100-$150 per week (depending on whether you have your own gear or use theirs), funky Robinson Crusoe-esque cabins are $200/week per person; price includes boat trips out and back and share kitchen. Very "rough" and perfect for us. You pay extra for everything else (drinking water, diving, snorkel equipment rental, kayak rental, certification) and those things are more than some places, but the total is affordable for what you get.

Happy trails...
