Hi, I was reading the other week an article about Costa Rica, and since have become addicted to want to go there. I was hoping to go away around the end of August to September, but I am not sure what the weather will be like. Can some advise me if this time of the year is any good, and if so which places and locations would be best. I am looking for a place where I can enjoy the sun, beaches but also have places to explore and adventures to go on. If anyone could shed some light that would be great.

Buenas,
Saw your post and here some light I hope. I have a lodge in the northeastern corner of Costa Rica. Generally June through October or so is the rainy season. I'm not sure if this is true country wide but definitely were in the Sarapiqui River and Rainforest. It can be rainy but the good news is it makes for great whitewater rafting and kayaking. If you wanted something different from the beach and were interested in some river rafting or rainforest walking this is a great area. Right now we have a writer from Rough Guides staying with us and digging it. Have a look at www.rancholeona.com

On the Caribbean slope the rainy season begins from mid to late April and continues through December and sometimes January. The wettest months are July and November, with a dry spell that occurs around August or September.

read more info about Costa Rica weather here...

that means you can't have fun and soak up under the sun. if you want a place with a hot weather at this time of the year in Costa Rica, consider a trip in Morocco

In those months, it will likely rain every day, but not all day. Usually it's an afternoon boomer, followed by an evening shower. The rainiest weather occurs in the Osa Peninsula during September.

The rainy season is when everything is in full bloom as well, so don't shy away from it. My favorite spot in the entire country is Playa Dominical, with mountains, jungles, and beaches all a few minutes apart.
