My husband and I, in our early 60's, are planning a holiday to Argentina. Can anyone suggest a touring itinerary they might have done. We plan on hiring a car and spending a few days at each destination. We like our comforts, good food, wine and interesting towns to stroll around. Would like to restrict driving to around 5 hours between stops. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi
How long are you thinking of going for and for how long? This information will, ofcourse, influence your itinerary. Driving distances are great in Argentina, much greater than five hours between many destinations. For example, Buenos Aires to Iguassu Flass in the North East is around 18 hours while Buenos Aires to Bariloch at the northern edge of Patagonia is around 20 hours. Usually, flying is recommended between regions. Have you considered taking a tour, it can take some of the stresses of planning away. Argentina Discover is an Argentina portal. Their tours page has a few all Argentina tours which might give you some ideas for itineraries. Latour is a well known, upscale South America tour operator. Their nine day Amazing Argentina Tour goes to Buenos Aires, Iguassu Falls and Bariloch. They also have a Patagonia tour and a variety of shorter tours in different destination in Argentina. One more is Gap Adventures which is oriented towards more active travel. They have a good North Argentina Highlights Tour. If you focused on one particular region in Argentina such as the North West for example, it would be more doable by car. Good Luck |
