Fellow voyagers,

Would anyone be interested in renting a car together to drive (all of, or at least some of) the Carretera Austral in late August/Early September? The idea would be to pick up the motor in Puerto Montt, cross to Chiloé, take the ferry to Chaitén, and from there to head on down the road. I was thinking of something like 12 days to 2 weeks to be able to explore some of the areas on the way, but I am flexible.

Alternatively, if anyone is going to be doing it by bike around that time, I'd be interested to hear from you. I'm no expert when it comes to bikes or equipment, so I would feel a bit nervous about cycling it without knowing how to fix brakes/broken spokes etc, but I'd certainly be up for the ride! Does anyone know if a reasonably fit but novice biker could feasibly 'do' the route?
