Does the train from Curitiba to Paranagua still run? I've been hearing conflicting reports, some say it does and others say it does not. Any credible info in this regard will be greatly appreciated!
The answer is: yes and no. There are two trains that run on this railway: the regular train and the Litorina tour train. Only the regular train goes all the way to Paranaguá, and only on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (dep Curitiba 8h15, arr Paranaguá 12h15; dep Paranaguá 14h, arr Curitiba 18h). On weekdays the regular train goes only halfway to the historic town of Morretes (covering the most scenic part of the railway; dep Curitiba 8h15, arr Morretes 11h15; dep Morretes 15h, arr Curitiba 18h). On weekends the Litorina tour train also does the Curitiba-Morretes line (dep Curitiba 9h15, arr Morretes 12h15; dep Morretes 14h30, arr Curitiba 17h30).
