Just returned to Lima from Cusco and had a fantastic visit. However on our last day a friend told us that two young American women who took a cab home together from Mama Afrika, one of the clubs on the Plaza de Armas, were abducted and gang raped at a site on the outskirts of town. Posting this from the Lima airport so that the community is aware. We (myself and two female friends) had no problems there, but be careful to take only registered taxis and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
