Hi I am planning to travel to Peru and Bolivia later this month (Sept 2008). I read that in Aug there had been roadblocks and wondered if this was still the case and whether it is safe to travel in Bolivia independently? I was planning to enter either overland from Peru or by train from Chile. Does anyone have any information about these options? I am currently travellingon my own but wondered whether I should hook up with a tour and if so which operators are reliable for crossings into and travelling across Bolivia.
