Basically I'm looking for you to "sell" me your favourite South American country, where should I go and why? What's so special about it and what is there to see / do?

I need to make a decision on where I want to go, all places seem so inviting and exciting and I cannot decide. Help me. Big Grin

Thanks,

Steve.

Smile

HELLO STEVE:

I AM GLAD YOU ASKED. COME TO VISIT ECUADOR. WHY? I JUST CAME BACK FROM VISITING COSTA RICA. WAY WAY OVERSOLD. ECUADOR IS ONE THIRD TO ONE FOURTH OF WHAT THE COST OF LIVING IS IN COSTA RICA. COSTA RICA IS NICE BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE ADVANTAGE WHICH IS THE MOUNTAINS IN COSTA RICA ARE MAXIMUM AT 3 THOUSAND METERS. IN ECUADOR THEY REACH UP TO SIX THOUSAND METERS. MY PARENTS ARE ELDERLY, SO 3 THOUSAND METERS IS BETTER FOR THEIR HEARTS THAN 6 THOUSAND METERS.
WHY ECUADOR?:
FRIENDLY FRIENDLY PEOPLE.
JUST BE SAFE AND YOU WILL BE VERY CONTENT.
DIVERSITY GALORE:
COAST WITH BEACHES, WHALE WATCHING AND SURFING. HOTELS IN MONTAÑITA COST $ 5.00 PER NIGHT! TRIPLE DURING LONG WEEKENDS. STILL A BARGAIN VS COSTA RICA.
MOUNTAINS: THE ANDES CROSS THE COUNTRY. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY ALL OVER THE ANDES WITH GREAT LITTLE TOWNS. HIKING, MOUNTAIN CLIMBING COTOPAXI OR CHIMBORAZO ARE CHALLENGES AVAILABLE AT $ 70.00 PER PERSON WITH GUIDE AND EQUIPMENT. MIN. 3 GUESTS. RAFTING IS GREAT. RIO QUIJOS, PASTAZA, AND BLANCO ARE GREAT LEVEL 3- 4- 5. COST: $ 75 PER FULL DAY, ALL INCLUDED. BAÑOS IS MY FAVORITE. HOT POOLS, AND PARTYING LIKE CRAZY IN A SAFE AND FUN CALLE ELOY ALFARO. BUILT IN FRIENDS EVERYWHERE.
THE AMAZON: IF YOU HAVE TIME GO TO CUYABENO. YELLOW FEVER VACCINE IS REQUIRED, BUT IT IS FUN AND LOTS OF WILDLIFE TO SEE. RASONABLE: $ 200.00 FOR A 4 DAY/ 3 NIGHT EXCURSION ALL INCLUSIVE FROM COCA.
I JUST RETURNED FROM VISITING A NEW LODGE NEAR TENA. NOT WORTH IT SINCE IT IS TOO CLOSE TO CIVILIZATION AND THE LODGE IS SELLING THE "GREEN- NO HORMONES ON CHIKENS AND COWS STORY. STILL, THERE ARE MANY OTHER GREAT LODGES OR JUST HIRE AN INDIGENOUS GUIDE FOR A MROE ADVENTURESOME EXPERIENCE. I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER IN THE ECUADOREAN AMAZON REGION. JUST ASK.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST. GALAPAGOS. VERY EXPENSIVE BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY. THE FLIGHT RT IS $ 356.00. THE TOURS ARE ABOUT $ 1,500 FOR 8 DAYS HOPPING FROM ISLAND TO ISLAND. IF YOU CAN AFFORD THE MONEY AND THE FUN, IT IS GREAT. I HAVE BEEN THERE 16 TIMES! OF COURSE I LOVE IT.
CALL OR WRITE TO ME. I CAN HELP YOU OUT. YOU HAVE A FREE PLACE TO STAY IN GUAYAQUIL. I HAVE A 3 BEDROOM APARTMENT AND LOVE TO SHOW ECUADOR AT ITS BEST. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY. I JUST WANT YOU TO REMEMBER ECUADOR AS A NEAT PLACE TO VISIT. YOU CAN VOLUNTEER LIKE CRAZY. LOTS OF PROJECTS TO JOIN. NO PAY, BUT GREAT FOR YOUR CURRICULUM AND YOUR SOUL. AFTER ALL, FEELINGS IS WHAT WE WILL DIE FOR.
DOUGLAS CHANG.

I agree - Ecuador is wonderful. I've been to Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Brazil and Ecuador is my favourite. I was there in April this year. It's a very varied country in the scenery, lots of volcanoes, the paramo and the tropical south. For a small country its incredible. Add to this the fact there are lots of different indigenous people who all look different and the women all wear different costumes. The Galapagos are superb and everything you would wish, you can get really close to the wildlife and again the islands are all different - even the lava is different on every island.

Bolivia! Without a shadow of a doubt. Check out this post on the amazing Salar de Uyuni, and tell me it's not one the most incredible natural wonders on the planet!
