LOOKING FOR A FELLOW TRAVELLER to go on a 15-day Bolivian Amazon Jungle Trekk at the end of June 2004

Just got back from 4 days in the Bolivian Amazon with a friend and am dying to go back. Four days was simply not enough. Spider monkeys, wild boar, boas, piranahs, frogs, tucans, you name it and we saw it. Just incredible.

I'm looking for one or two people to go on a 15-day trekk through the Parque Nacional Madidi, a national park north of La Paz. The guide, Melvin, is a local who loves the jungle and knows so much about it. He is really fun and trustworthy (my friend and I are both women and he behaved himself well!)

THE TRIP:

We would start the 15-day trekk in Rurrenebaque, the usual jump-off point for the Madidi park, and then "snake" our way up through the mountains. After 15 days a jeep would come and pick us up at the other end of the park and bring us back to Rurrenebaque. The cost of the trip is approximately $20/day and includes a guide and a cook (so about $300 total for the trekk itself). The cost of the flight from La Paz to Rurrenebaque is about $100 roundtrip.

I am looking to go sometime around the last week of June - say from June 27th to July 13th. The dates are relatively flexible though (my last day of work is the 23rd of June)

Melvin, the guide, has told me so much about the trip and says that we would be going through virgin jungle. He says that we would see basically every animal that lives there. Conditions would be basic but comfortable enough. I can send you pictures of where we stayed during our trip.

ABOUT ME:

I am a 34-year old professional woman who has been living and working in Bolivia for the past 9 months as part of a two-year fellowship. I work in the international development field on food security programs.

I have travelled a good deal in my life, but being in the jungle was by far one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. Seeing animals in the wild, hacking my way through the dense greenery, fishing in the rivers, marveling at the colors of the butterflies, cooking over a wood fire... it is really incredible.

ABOUT YOU:

I am looking for someone who is easy going, enjoys a good laugh, open minded, and has a strong sense of adventure. You can be a female or male, or both. Other than that, I have no other "requirements". Oh, you must like to play cards.

If you are interested, send me an email at mettebb@yahoo.com. I have pictures from my last trip that I can send you and will answer any and all questions you have.

I hope to hear from you soon.

M.
