PLEASE, if you are going to Belem, do not stay at Hotel Fortaleza. It is basically a brothel. Do not be tempted by the cheapness, because it is very unsafe.

Also, Central Hotel is very noisy and dirty. Must now be under new management. Spent 1 night there and the place was crawling with roaches and bed bugs.

Now staying at Hotel Regente, which is lovely AND it has a swimming pool!
