Planning to visit in Feb for a couple of weeks from london: does anybody know if there are direct flights to fortaleza, can you recommend where to stay here for one day. any reccomended place in Jeri? is it busy this time of year? is it safe to swim if you are not v good? any other info v appreciated, esp about walks/treks. Many thanks.

February is likely to be busy especially around the 8th as its Carnival. I've just returned from Brazil but didn't make it quite si far north - reports were that Jeri is spectacular but waves can be quite big. Airtours started charter flights into northern Brazil last year so they might fly direct to Fortaleza otherwise its via Sao Paulo with BA or Varig or Lisbon with Air Portugal. Bom viagem!
