In April 2003 I'm going to travel through Europe with a friend and we also want to visit Turkey.
We are a little worried about the situation with America and Iraq though, since Iraq is Turkeys neighbour. What do you think? Is it unwise to go there? Would we really be unsafe in Turkey if these war threaths become real? |

Don't worry too much about going to Turkey.
If the war has already started by the time you get there, you might wanna avoid the southeast and maybe Adana which has a large US base. The rest of Turkey will seem and feel very far away from the conflict. |

Nah, Turkey is fine. Istanbul is a long, long way from Iraq. We had a great time there and all the people were lovely to us. Mind you, if you are American you have to pay 100 euros for a visa as opposed to 15 euros if you are British.

Luckily I'm from Holland so my visa only costs 10 Euros. (At least, that was the price last summer)
I haven't heard of any serious negative travel advice for Turkey so I think we will go indeed! |
