I'm not sure how you can smuggle an animal and keep it alive!

If your friend hasn't already done so, have him or her check with customs in the UK to see what the procedure is for animals from overseas. I'm thinking vaccinations and/or quarantine will be needed.

Really, though, isn't your friend going to take the dog to a vet regularly at home? Open up the wallet and pay for a check up. As long as a vet says the dog is in good health, I can't imagine there being any major problems.

the friend has found a "friend" to bring the pet to the original country.

that country has stringent custom laws concerning livestock,seeds too...

too bad no one came up with ideas....
