Hi all,
I will be flying from the east coast of the USA (GMT-5:00) to India (GMT+5:30), so I will be 10.5 hours off my normal schedule. Any tips for minimizing the effects of jet lag? Should I sleep on the plane? Try to stay awake? I will be pretty busy with work and preparations the week before I depart, so gradually adjusting to the new schedule won't really be feasible... Thanks |

to combat jet lag is to start adjusting to my destination's time starting the week before I leave. that way most of the jet lag I will experience will be at home before I leave! the week before, I'll change the time on my watch to Thai (my dest.) time, and gradually move my eating and sleeping times closer and closer. other recmmendations I've read include, take melatonin before you go to bed and don't drink alcohol on your flight (hah!). Here's some good advice from a doctor:
Dr Weil's answer to minimizing jet lag hope that's helpful |

when you get to your destination just try and not sleep until its actually time (in india) to kip. and eat at there times too. i dont think ive actually experienced jet lag yet but i tried to prepare for it but i couldn't, so id just chilled out and relax and take it easy for the first couple of days when u arrive.
Hope you have a good flight and happy travels! CR |
