Is there anybody who made this trip or/and can give me some information about visas, safety, transportation, duration, costs, interesting places, best way to get around, best time to go etc etc.

I am about to go overland Turkey to India and would like to find out what you wanted to find out, did you find anything out? there wasn't much posted here anyway. that lp book, i have it but it was published before 9/11 so much has changed.
