The FCO website and others seem to suggest that travel in the border area between Iran and Pakistan is now dangerous and that travel inside both countries has an elevated risk. We would be really pleased if anyone could let us know if this is so (I know the FCO tend to overstate risks).
Thanks,
John and Jo.

I am doing that trip starting soon. This is mid september. I am still in eastern europe but heading for Turkey and on thru iran and pakistan. I keep hearing it is dangerous too but you don´t know what to believe, the foreign office, western media, both of which tend to play up the danger, or the people who have done it and survived. Well have any backpackers been overland iran to pakistan recently, i wish i knew. I suppose it depends how much you´re willing to try it and see. I see you posted this in July so maybe you have done it already, let me know if poss, ben
