Does anyone have a local (trustworthy) contact in Cairo that would be interested in helping me out when i arrive at the airport?

I would like to meet someone there who could help me sort out my visa and help me in my onward journey from Cairo train station.
Someone to just volunteer their morning to help me out.

I'm a lone female traveller and would like someone to help me make it a little less daunting!!

This is probably way to late to reply to but for the benifit of others here are a few tips.

Visa.
If possible, try getting the visa ahead of time since there can be a rush to the visa desk once you arrive at the airport. There is no hassle realy in geting the visa there and the men and women that work there usualy know english. if you are not able to get a visa ahead of time then aim for the visa desk as soon as you can. It is located before the pasport check and baggage lines. Just keep your eyes open and you will find it.

Geting to the Ramses trainstation from the airport is pretty simple. It shouldent cost you more than 50 egyptian pounds. If the taxi driver gives you a higher price just move on to the next taxi. one thing there is never a shortage of is taxis. When you get to the trainstation there will most likely be turist police there that can help point the way to the ticket booths. Many hotels can also assist you in geting tickets from the station for a small fee.

Dont worry about traveling in Cairo as a woman. I lived there for 6 months. Many egyptian males are extreemly flirty but it seldome goes beyond that. Just remember that it is a muslim contry and try to cover up alittle and this will help you in the long run. Anytime you stop and look a tad lost you will be aproachd by men that whants to help you, talk to you, show you there uncles store. Just look as if you know were you are going or tell them were you need to go and that your late to meet your husband/fiancee. This is a little white lie that will help, a fake wedding ring is also usefull at times.

if i can answer anything else, feel free to e mail me at tequilla006@hotmail.com
