Hi fellow travelers,
I will be in Cairo,Egypt mid October 2007 for 2 1/2 days. What are the main interests of Cairo/Giza I should visit in this short time?
Also could you pass names of repurable and reliable travel agencies / tour guides I can use.We are a group of four "family".

Thanks

Mark, you could easily spend a week exploring Cairo and only have scratched the surface. If you only have 2 1/2 days, do the obvious: spend one day around downtown Cairo and Islamic Cairo, and spend the other day in the Egyptian Museum (also in downtown Cairo) and at the pyramids. You'll use up the remaining half-day just getting your bearings.

I personally would not use a travel agency: I mean, you're in a city after all, admittedly an extremely noisy, crowded and chaotic one, but the fact is that everything is within walking distance of the city centre except the pyramids out at Giza. To get to Giza or around downtown Cairo, you could use taxis if you really don't want to brave the traffic and the hordes of people. Yes, it all might be a bit of a shock to the system but that is part of the experience; at best if you hired an agency or guide you could insulate yourself from it while being moved from one point to another, but the moment you get out into the street it'll all hit you anyway.
