My boyfriend and I are going to be in Israel in September and want to spend a couple of days in Jordan at the Dead Sea - I am very keen to go to Petra for a night or two as well, and want to camp/not stay in a Movenpick etc and possibly do a camel/horse trip. I've been looking at tour operators online and they don't seem to do very short trips like this - is there any way we can sort this out on our own? or any recommendations for operators? thanks!
I've travelled with a set-up called Jordan Tours & Travel. They're based in Petra and particularly good at creating 'tailor-made' type tours, rather than the more 'one-size-fits-all' set-up that you refer to. They're on the web, and if you e-mail them they seem to be pretty efficient and promt at gettign back to you with an itinerary and fairly reasonable price. Best of luck, WillSM
