Hi

Most women seem to like going to Chiang Mai, Phuket, and the Islands. You should read up on these places. A lot depends on what your interests are. You may like beaches, or prefer history, or just want to stay some where cheap. Thailand, even in high season (Nov. - Jan.) is cheap. What you see and where you go is really up to you!

Bangkok is worth at least a couple of days, this will give you a chance to recover from your flight. Also, there are lots of travel agencies in Bangkok, many of them offer a "menu board" of choices for tours. You are free to gather information, compare prices, and pick and choose where you want to go to.

If you are the a "backpacker" type of traveller you may want to check on accomodations in Bangkok around KaoSan Road (KSR.) In this area there will be many other similar travellers you can meet and compare notes with.

The easiest way to get around many places in Bangkok is by using the "Skytrain" or metered taxis. The "Skytrain" is sort of an overhead subway, It's easy to use, cheap, and gets to many areas tourists like to see. If you want this easy travel by "Skytrain" find accomodation on Silom, Sukhumvit, or the Siam area.

Tuk Tuks are 3 wheel taxis, you bargain the fare, rarely will a tourist get a cheap fare. Try them once and switch to metered (air conditioned) taxis. With meter taxis in Bangkok - only pay the fare on the meter. It will almost always be cheaper than bargaining the fare, unless you are Asian and speak Thai.

Good luck, more information on Thailand is on the Asia board selection on this website, You can also try the Lonely Planet website (Thorn Tree) for more info.

Go cheap - go often!

you have to check out the jewellery shops and play a card game with the locals to really experience Bangkok, don't forget to eat banana pancakes and walk up and down the Kao Sahn for hours at a time, prehaps collect the trilogy of t-shirts, the 'singha', the 'chang beer', and the 'red bull', grab some fishermans pants and get your dreads done and wa-lah, bangkok conquered!

If you are heading south go see Krung Ching Waterfall in Nop Phi Tam district. It's absolutely beautiful but watch the leeches when hiking there. There is also white water rafting near there and an amazing cave. If you have the cash you can even stay in a tree house. Also see the the mountain mist near there. go early and watch the island like moutain tops rise out of the mist from the mountains. Phuket has great nightlife still even after the tsunami. Also if you can find it (I have no idea where it is) there is an amazing canoe ride through a cave somewhere in southern Thailand, but don't go if you are closterphobic.

You will have an amazing time there! Amazing country!
