Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a ferry operating
between Sharm El Sheikh and Aqaba?? Several
guidebooks I have read (admittedly the latest
was published 2003) indicated the running of this
ferry was uncertain.

If this ferry is running, does anyone have any
up-to-date prices and running times?

There is now (October 2003) a ferry service between Sharm el Sheikh and Aqaba. It runs twice a week on Sundays and Thursdays, leaving Aqaba at 1pm and returning from Sharm at 4pm. This is a hydrofoil service run by Arab Bridge Maritime in Aqaba (phone 03.201.3240). The return fare is 85USD and the single fare "about" 55USD.

Hi Sean - the Aqaba-Sharm ferry only runs in summer, with the possibility of sailings at times of high traffic year-round (such as the Muslim hajj pilgrimage). Out of summertime, though, the only reliable sailings are the fast catamaran and slow ferry which both run daily between Aqaba and Nuweiba (just up the coast from Sharm).
Enjoy.
