I'm looking at going round the middle east, not sure where I want to start but i have a few places in mind. Does anyone know any places/websites to get reasonably cheap flights to that part of the world?

There are a number of places to look at, try these

www.sortme4travel.co.uk
www.bridgetheworld.co.uk
www.travelbag.co.uk

I think the top one searches for the cheapest flights available,so saves time searching. But the other two give good prices. You have to look around though and see what you find

Since taking a few abortive trips planned by myself in recent years - my wife suggested we get an expert involved.

Ever since then our trips to Dubai, Seychelles and Maldives have involved flights and/or accommodation from www.eyretravel.co.uk

We still do not understand how they manage to do the flights at the prices - but for some UK reason they can only do UK departure flights - hope this helps you out.

Cheers

I booked flights-only from Gatwick to Sharm-el-Sheik with Britannia for 250GBP in early May. We intend to use cheap local transport to go on to Petra in Jordan but there's a catamaran to mainland Egypt or buses to Cairo. The Britannia price undercut anything else I could find for the alernatives of Amman or Cairo.

If you're flexible re itinerary and direction of travel, I suggest flying into Istanbul. It is much cheaper than flying to the ME because it's considered Europe. I did this in 2000 and simply took a cheap internal flight from Istanbul to Adana (you could also take a long-haul but comfy bus) then a bus from Adana to Antakya from where one catches the bus to Aleppo, Syria. Got to see Turkey and Syria. Also caught a bus from Damascus to Beirut. Easy. Happy travels.
