I am planning to travel to India alone at the beginning of Jan. I am getting loads of conflicting advice. I wanted to fly to Madras then Goa on single tickets, then make my way overland to Bangladesh. I have been told I won't be allowed in unless I have a return and/or ticket out of India and it's not possible anyway to get overland to Bangladesh (border troubles, etc). I have also been told that most countries now (I also hope to go on to Thailand/Malaysia and Indionesia) won't let you in unless you've got a ticket out. I had hoped to buy air tickets along the way as I heard it was cheaper.

Can anyone advise???
