Hi, I'm thinking about going down to Turkey in April and wondering what to expect that time of year. I'm not talking package holiday resorts, but backpacking - Olympos, Kas, Goreme etc. Anyone who's been there in April/May, let me know what it's like then. Is it warm enough to go to the beaches? Are there other backpackers at the pensions and bars?...
Hi, When I travel Southern Turkey I prefer to stay at Sundance Nature Village . It is both economical and fascinating. There are several choices of accommodation... Tree-houses are my favourite but in this season you may prefer the bungalows. Thereis also a beautiful area for tents!!! They have restaurant & bar . Also the camp is just a 5 min. walk to the ancient city of Phaselis. If you visit their web site you'll find more information...

April is good as not busy and season just slowly kicking off! Visited twice April so far, no problems - sea not warmed up to temperature yet but still managed odd swim and on beach sunbathing some days. May will be better as sometimes April can be raining and unsettled - in 2003 it was quite damp in evening with drizzle rain and temperature dropped rapidly. Need to wrap up eves as cool! Beware Mum told you.....ha ha. My fave time is October as its still pretty good - mostly 80's in the South West Med region (Turquoise Coast)! and sea is warmed up by then and all the tourists nearly gone home! Have fun. Tell us your story when you get back.
