Hi, I have just posted some photos of my 1999 trip to Iran if anyone would like to look at them.
It was at a time when relations between Iran and the US seemed to be thawing. Khatami was in power(well semi-power, Khameini in always being in charge...still is) and Bill Clinton in the white house(afair). Now there are hardliners in both places and even Europe seems to have given up. But while it wasn't a liberal regime, the people were incredibly hospitable and friendly, tourism was increasing and the young people in particular seemed to be pushing the boundaries of what was acceptable and looking forward to a new age. I sincerely hope the US do not invade as it will simple cause the death pain and suffering currently being felt in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Let's not forget them. I do believe that change will come of its own accord. The current hardline stance is a reaction to the liberalism that came before(and will again) and the extremism of the US government. Anyway, the photos ;) Phot gallery of Iran, Uzbekistan, Peru, Ireland, Morocco etc. Has anyone been to Algeria? What's that like? Any photos? Richard |
