hi Zvi
It's a tricky question to answer, since the huge majority of those 46 are in Amman!

However, if you try in Irbid, on the main highways from Jerash/Amman, you may get lucky, as well as on the airport road/desert highway south of Amman towards the airport. At Wadi Musa, the station near the top of the town, not far from Al Anbat hotel, often (but not always) has unleaded. The bigger stations on the northern edge of Aqaba are another place where you're likely to find unleaded. Hope this helps!

hi Zvi
Here's an update from the Jordan Times newspaper, 6 April 2007:

LEADED PETROL TO BE PHASED OUT COMPLETELY NEXT YEAR
By Hana Namrouqa

AMMAN - The country will reduce the use of leaded petrol by 70 per cent this year, in preparation for a complete shift by the beginning of next year, Ministry of Environment officials said this week.

The Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC) will gradually increase the production of unleaded petrol and stop producing regular and super petrol.

“The ministries of environment, water and energy, JPRC and the Gas Stations Owners Association (GSOA) have agreed on an integrated plan to ensure a complete shift to unleaded gas by 2008,” Ministry of Environment Spokesperson Isa Shboul told The Jordan Times.

The new unleaded fuel will suit all types of engines and it will not be necessary to adapt vehicles’ engines to take unleaded fuel, according to Shboul.

GSOA President Hatem Orabi called for accelerating the switch-over to unleaded fuel.

“I’m worried that the issue will take a longer time… we call on the concerned authorities to speed up ongoing studies and related procedures and not to delay it any longer,” Orabi told The Jordan Times.

He said fuel stations could start replacing old fuel tankers with new ones within 10 days after the shift to unleaded petrol is announced.

The association recently signed an agreement with the JPRC to replace all fuel tankers built before 1993, while the fuel stations’ owners will bear the costs of replacing those built after 1993 that do not meet the required standards, Orabi said.

The new tankers will be insulated with double-walls, while old tankers that meet the specifications will be cleaned and refilled with unleaded petrol after the leaded fuel is pumped out, he added.

Thirty-two of the 345 fuel stations across the country currently provide unleaded gasoline, which costs JD0.640 fils per litre. Regular petrol is sold at JD0.430 fils per litre and the price of super petrol is JD0.605 fils per litre."
