Hi everyone :-)
me and my girlfriend are in london and about to go on a world trip from Sep 1st (2005). We are travelling as a couple, for 7 months from sep to mar ... i'm finding it hard to work out how much money we need ... please help! we are going to: bali - cambodia - vietnam - japan - oz - nz - chile - brazil - argentina ... and finally peru I had originally planned on taking £8000 GBP for accommodation and daily spending (for two) but i starting to think this isn't enough at all as we will be going through japan, oz and nz which seem more expensive to travel through .... can anyone suggest a budget or any advice? big thanks in advance - tim, london, excited :-) |

truth is mate, you could go with nothing and find a way of getting by, you could go with 20k an wax the lot of it of helicopter rides and bungy jumps. 8k should be great, like you say japan oz an nz are expensive (relatively) but the rest of asia and south america are cheap as chips. Ill bet ya you don't spend 8k, but if you think you might, then take out a new credit card, which offers 0% on balance transfers for 9 months-1year, transfer a few grand into an account and just leave it there. If you need it, then you can access it. If you don't then you can just pay off the card with it when you get back. Sprek to people who've been travelling, and the best stories and adventures always arose when their money ran out!
