I am planning a round the world trip next year, The companies that provide flights seem to require dates (specifically) of which flight you require at which time and day, I do not want to be tied down to being at a certain place at a certain time, does any one know if there are any other options available? British airways will do a flexible ticket but by the sounds of it it this is only an option to change a flightdate if neccessary.

Hi,

It's some time since I did my RTW and things may have changed, but, as a general rule, the more you pay, the more flexible a ticket you get.

Generally, you have to make a firm booking for the first leg of the journey (eg London - New York) which cannot be changed. But, you should be able to get a ticket where dates/times of subsequent legs of the journey can be changed. Some tickets even permit itinerary changes (within limits of course).

Talk to companies such as Trailfinders or Travelbag if you've not already done so.
