As a novice to world travelling I would appreciate any advice on where to go and how to go about it! I have a pile of books to plough through, but experienced travellers know a lot more. I'm not interested in big cities, but am interested in different cultures, nature, spirituality, good wholefood, meeting people, volunteering, etc.

I'm also in the stages of planning my round the world trip. I intend to leave sometime in the new year taking in India, Thailand, Japan, Australia and the US. I'm in the Whitley Bay area. Do you have any advice or tips for me in my planning?
