I'm starting my round the world trip in March (going to NY / LA / FIJI / AUSTRALIA / THAILAND - LAOS - VIETNAM - CAMBODIA / SRI LANKA / DELHI / NEPAL). Now it's getting nearer I'm thinking about what equipment I need.
I currently have a 50-75L Karrimor backpack, which is great, although there are straps everywhere, which are really annoying and always get caught on things and so I want to buy a new one. I'm considering buying a pack which has an attachable day pack (the Karrimor Global 70-90 looks good). However, I read somewhere that these aren't the best packs to have. Does anyone use a pack with an attachable day pack and if so, can you recommend one? Your advice would be much appreciated! I'm sure this will be the first of many questions! Cheers Katharine |

That backpack (90L) your looking at seems extremely large to me, you may want to consider something smaller.

Around 65-75L is optimal for a world trip. You want to be leaving home with your pack no more than 3/4 full, to account for all the interesting things you'll want to buy at 'special friend price' along the way!
I've written a more extensive piece around backpacks and daypacks on my website: This should give you a reasonable starting point! Richard ============================== Richard Fletcher The Travel Monkey - FREE advice on tickets, accommodation, scams and more! www.thetravelmonkey.net |
