My boyfriend and I are planning a rtw trip but nearly all the flight packages include stopping in the USA. does anyone know any flight packages that avoid the USA??

You could travel back via Mexico or south america. This route came up as an option a few times when i was booking my ticket.
Also just because they are called round the world tickets that doesn't mean you have to literally go round the world. most tickets are based on air miles. my ticket is oneworld which i booked through STA Travel, it gives me 29,000 airmiles. One thing to remember though is that if you do go back on yourself your ticket is likely to cost more. Why such the downer on going back through the states? you could just use a stop there to connect to the uk. Hope this helps charlie |

Yeah, I felt the same when we booked our trip - just because it's not part of the plan this time round. But our ticket (which is otherwise fantastic) means we have to go 'round the world' and can't fly back on ourselves. The upside is that we decided to stay over on the cook islands for a week and then just to get the first flight we can out of LA. Maybe that would soften the blow?
