A friend of mine is thinking of doing a Round-the-World trip and we were playing at putting together itineraries - fantasising, really, about where she should stop off. Does anyone have any suggestions about round-the-world itineraries - by air and overland - and what the cost of the appropriate ticket might be?

My husband and I are in month 6 of a 9 month RTW trip. We bicycled southern Europe (excellent), hit S.E. Asia (so cheap) and are in the process of exploring S.America and Central America. We are chasing the sun so we don't have to pack as much clothing. The old adage, "less is better" is so appropriate for a trip of this length. Best advice...you can buy almost anything you need along the way, so don't try to pack it all.
Can spend anywhere from $1500-$5000 for airfare. Overland is pretty cheap everywhere except Europe. |

You really need to go with your ideas and see a travel company. We had places that we wanted to see all our lifes and put them all together and went to STA Travel. They fixed a good route for us and we go on 2nd Sept 02 starting in South America, then Aussie/NZ, then S.E. Asia, then China, then South Africa, ending up in Tanzania to Heathrow. So all your ideas and dreams are rolled into one. Our price was £1,799.00 including airport taxes, this was because we were travelling over five continents. They start at £998.00 upwards, depending on how exotic and different your trip wants to be. Happy Travelling. Don't dream. DO !!!
