It depends on your age and medical history. My current policy is with Direct Line, but, as with motor insurance, you should phone round for the cheapest quote. I'm assuming you're after a "multitrip" policy, which only allows you to be out of the country for about 31 days at a time. If you're going for a longer trip, you'll need a special "backpacker" policy.

Hi
Try www.backpackinsurance.com or www.roughguidesinsurance.com Both of these offer good cover, check the small print and if they cover you for activities you might try out. Good luck Jackie |

I use Nomads (WorldNomads.com as they are cheap, allow extensions and claims online and are underwritten by Allianz, so I trust them. I haven't had to make a claim though, although I checked them out and others have, with no problems.

Did a search around as we'll be spending some time in Africa soon...basically our main request was to have lots of insurance for CASH (a seperate thing to MONEY, annoyingly)... Global Village covered £300, all the others seemed to only cover £200... Some examples I got together for 8 Months coverage:
Global Village: 259 Worldnomads: 169 Insure & Go: 172 Roughguidesinsurance: 166 backpackinsurance.com: 121 Most other ones were over 200, Flexicover was £365 - a bit much methinks... Anyway, apart from the Cash, Global Village did our flights, so it made sense going with them... |
