my husband and I would love to go travelling again but would need to rent our house out. We are worried about renting it out has anyone else got any tips etc or horror stories??!!

I rented my property out to a man who seemed pleasant enough initially but turned out to be the "tenant from hell". I vowed I would never be a landlord again!

Having said that, lots of people do seem to rent their homes out without any particular problems. (I'm assuming that, like me, you're in the UK as I don't know how things work elsewhere.) If you decide to go ahead, I suggest you seek advice from letting agents or estate agents who specialise in lettings.

Thanks for your reply! So did your tenant not pay up then or did he trash the place? I have heard that you can take insurance out to cover both these things.

The last time we went travelling we sold our house but then found it a total nightmare when we returned as we had to resort to sleeping on my in laws floor for two months! Never again!
Are you planning on travelling again? If so I take it no renting out your home again?

Did you use an agency?
