Hi there
I just wanted your opinion and/or experiences on the following subject. I have been told by some embassies (Argentina, Mexico and Cuba) that I need to show enough cash upon arrival in order to be able to enter the country. I read a post yesterday that somebody when trying to cross from Chile to Argentina, he was sent back to Chile because he only had 100 dollars cash (they didn't take into account his credit cards). I am thinking of taking some traveller's cheques with me in order to prove that I do have enough money to visit the country as a traveller. Do you think this will solve any potential problems? Thanks a lot for your input One world |

In many countries - not just the ones you name - immigration officials can ask how much money you've got. They want to ensure you can support yourself adequately whilst you're in their country. I was once asked to show my money when entering the USA.
I would have thought that travellers cheques (in sufficient quantity) would be acceptable evidence of funds - but I don't make the rules. The only way to know for sure would be to contact the authority of the country concerned. Pete |
