Hi I'm looking for some advice about how best to plan a Grown Up GAP Year, have reached 30 and crisis has set in!
I would like to do some Community Volunteering somewhere in the world and eventually end up in Canada for a few months. Any tips on where to start, good websites etc. |

There are plenty of books on the subject. Go to www.amazon.com (or the Amazon website for your country), click on Books, then Book Search, then enter the phrase "gap year" in the title box.
I did see a book in a bookshop aimed specifically at "mature" gap year takers, but can't remember the details - sorry. Ask at your nearest big bookshop and they might be able to help. Good luck with it! Pete |

Amazon is good for cheap books but its still an expense when you're saving money for your trip and i find you end up paying for a lot of information you dont need.
My best advice to you is just keep searching the internet, there's lots of great sites (and some bad)filled with information and like minded people. Sites i would recommend off the top of my head are:- www.travellersconnected.com (my favorite) www.gapyear.com www.seat61.com www.bangkokbob.com www.roundtheworldtickets.com www.airtrek.com there's literally tons. Good luck with your travel plans Charlie |

I suggest visiting www.idealist.org. They have an international bulletin board for paid and volunteer work abroad.
