Hello,
I am planning on beginning my rtw trip in September. I'll be travelling from Florida, USA to London, Nice, Bangkok, Australia, and NZ. Does anyone have any advice on websites or travel agents to book RTW tix through? The local travel agents I've spoken with seem to be inexperienced in this area. It seems that these kinds of trips are less common with Americans and more common for those from the UK. I've noticed that there seems to be a lot more options starting in London. Flights from here to the UK are very reasonable in the fall, so I was even thinking of booking a RT ticket on my own to London if I end up purchasing a RTW ticket that departs from there. Any advice that is provided would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kat

Hey Kat, STA Travel wins hands down almost every time. They give the best prices, and usually know what they're talkkin about, but for specifics of where to g, you can't beat askin someone on a message board, but never just take one persons advice.

Hope this helps, Steve

Hey Gatorgirl
We are currently on our ticket. We left from Sydney and bought through a company called Trailfinders which are also UK based. Yeah can't imagine too many 'around the world' based operators in the states. We've seen a lot of people from the states traveling in Central America but not too many in the rest of the world. Check on the One World website for the around the world tickets that this alliance offers based on miles you travel or based on continents you travel to. We actually met an American couple ages ago that specifically traveled to Sydney to leave from there because their research showed it was a lot cheaper to leave from Sydney then a lot of other places. If you want an idea of how long to spend in each country before you buy a ticket and set your dates, check out this websitefor more information about some of the countries we've been too.Maybe you'll choose to go to some other places along the way as well. Good luck organising!

We are a family of 5, with 3 kids, and are 8 months into a one year RTW trip. We live near Vancouver, BC, Canada and after exhaustive research and some advice from seasoned RTW travellers, we bought one way tickets to London, England and purchased our RTW tickets from Trailfinders there. I got quotes from reputable and experienced agents in Canada and USA, and they could not touch the prices from London, even when we factored in the cost of the one way tickets there and back. For us, it was about 30% cheaper, which is big bucks when you are buying 5 tickets!

We found Trailfinders to be very helpful and experienced. They are the experts. After a few phone calls from Canada before we left, we gave up on trying to book over the phone, took their advice and just went to the Trailfinders office the day we arrived in London. Our tickets were finalized in a couple of hours....much easier to discuss all the many options and rules in person.

Good luck!
