We've just booked our tickets and have begun looking into things we'll need to take with us on our 10 month trip. We're off to China, Aus, NZ and S.America. I'd like to know what people's opinions are on the Pacsafe rucksack cages? I know they're not the light bit of equipment but as we're doing a few reks and leaving our rucksacks behind we want them to be safe.

Worth purchasing or not?

We have one- we have used it once in india. but a big chain and padlock are the best bet. you can even attach 2 bags together and around stuff so that it is more difficult for them to be lifted.
So long as you keep your wits about you and know when not to leave your bag alone you should be ok.
