I was wondering if anyone could give me some help and assistance on a small problem that I have.

I'm quitting my job on the 1st of May and hoping to begin my 18 month trip on or about the 20th of May. Due to visa regs I have to be in Australia by the 11th of July.

Can anyone recommend an itinerary for those 5/6 weeks. I dont want to do a flying visit to any country/area if I can help it but rather would prefer somewhere where 5 weeks would be enough time to see, enjoy and chill out that particular country.

Thanks.

Australia is a very big place I live in Bundaberg Queensland on the coast 300ks north of brisbane. It would depend on what your interests are .It gets cold in the southern states and a lot of southerners come to Queensland for the winter .Although if you live in Wales I guess at that time of the year cold would not worry you.
I am 72, my daughter and I hope to go over to UK next Septmber/October. Helen lives on the oposite side of Australia to me and I would be only too happy to answer any questions I can about Australia.
Regards Greta

Depending on where your airline ticket can get you I'd recommend either South Africa or Argentina

They're both big enough and varied enough to fill out 5 weeks, and are set up for independent travel, or backpacker bus type travel. Plus it's easy to get an onward flight from each to Oz.

Unless you speak some Spanish, South Africa would be the easier, and while I wouldn't want to recommend an itenary (do you want to do my holiday or your own) just read a guidebook and you'll find plenty of things to interest you.
Plus if you have enough of the country, Swaziland and Namibia from South Africa, or Chile from Argentina are both great places to make a side trip to.

Good luck

Mike D, thanks for info. Obviously I didnt want you to give me a day by day itenary, but it was just easier to put it that way!!!
