I'm looking for someplace to get away for a couple of weeks, on the mediterranean, that's quiet and cheap...any suggestions?

First of all, Mediterranean beachfront property is way too valuable to accomodate cheap "beach huts" when there's so much more money to be made by developing resorts and hotels on the same land. It used to be, in the 70's, that you could actually find these sort of places to stay in the small fishing villages along the Costa Del Sol in Spain, but those days are gone for good. Now you have to go to Thailand to find that sort of thing, and even there it's rapidly disappearing.
Your best chance for anything similar would be in the Greek Islands on one of the less-visited islands (Anafi is a good one) or in So. Turkey away from the larger resort towns. Even in these places you'll be paying a minimum of USD $20/day unless you stay in a youth hostel.

if you wait 'til summer arrives then why not try dossing on beaches on the cote d'azur. away from the large cities, Nice, Cannes etc there are lots of secluded spots where you can turn in for the night on both the French & Italian Riverias. virtually all beaches have a shower and supermarkets are never far away, thereby allowing a smile, shower & shave. Insect repellent is also a must. If you're able to communicate in basic french/italian you can meet local dudes who will tell you the vibe.
