Dear All,

Once again, the European Championship Qualifiers 2008 have commenced and the unique opportunity to visit San Marino has arisen.

Sadly, there are no links on this site so please can anyone assist me with the following matter.

Situation:

My girlfriend and I are travelling to the beautiful Republic of San Marino for five days (Tues 6th - Sat 10th February) to watch San Marino V Republic of Ireland Euro 2008 qualifer at the Serravale Stadium. A good friend on mine shall join us from the 6th - 8th also.

Questions:

* How long does it take to travel from Bologna to
Rimini by train/coach or even car? Unfortunately, My girlfriend and I were unable to obtain direct flights to Rimini.

* Please can anyone recommend some accommodation in Rimini or even in the Republic? One would prefer to stay in San Marino. Our budget ranges from private/B&B to a three star hotel.

* Please can anyone suggest places of interest during our time there?

* Would it be feasable to visit Venice for a day trip/short duration?

I look forward to any responses on the above questions in due course.

Thank you in advance.

Best wishes

Kevin

To Kevin

a group of us are also attending the same game and are arriving at Bologna Forli late Tuesday evening. That's some 30 km south east of Bologna and the best part of an hours drive into the old city of San Marino. It's possible to take a train to Rimini but the last bus departs before 19.00 so it's taxi or bust 'lest you stay in Rimini. We are ordering a taxibus from Forli to San Marino which will cost 150 Euro there (night fare)and 130 back on Thurs morning - if you wish to share the outward journey, more than welcome.
Twim B&B accomodation at Hotel Joli is 80Euro which looks like a nice old place toward the top of the citadel. Tramping the battlements and hillsides taking in the views and fresh air will kill a day or two. Daytrip to Venice quite possible by train but beware the early last bus back up into San Marino itself.

No problem Kevin.

I can be contacted on mooneytunes@blueyonder.co.uk though it's likely we unknowingly shared a bar at the raucous Cafe Natur in Torshavn last year. More of the same in the principality !
The one thing you didn't mention about the Faeroes was the helicopter transport service - an absolutely thrilling flight from Vagar to Klaksvik via Torshavn. Simply sensational and I agree - a wonderful travel destination populated by some of the most warm-hearted people I've met. Even if most of them did seem to have a drink problem...........!
