This is heartwrenching and difficult for me since I always wanted to visit one.
It's hard to tell which is loveliest by pictures. I plan to come from Grenada and I know La Ronda has a direct train line from it. Or is it? How long does it take from Grenada? But it hardly seems quaint from pictures.I don't plan to see bullfight so what else is there to do in La Ronda? I know all the beach tourist visit migas or nerjas and they often seemed dissed in travel books. Zahuna(or Zahora spelling) and other authentic ones seem far closer to Cadix! There's a lovely town with a name starting with a G.There's another with is famous for jamon but a bit far from Grenada and we won't do the famous drive through all of these twons due to tiem constraints. Time is limited so I only have time to see 1 pueblo blanco. My partner is indugling me. Please help me decide!I used to have a geography book as a youngster and fell in love with the white houses in the book....Hence, the pressure on finding it.Then again, the picture was taken in 1970s. What budget hotels would you recommend in the pueblo blanco you recommend? Sorry to be repetitive. I also noticed la Mancha has white washed houses in Almodovar's last film, Vuelver, and would be closer from Madrid. But I plan to go to Grenada. I really appreciate all tips and insight on the matter including budget hotels. Thanks in advance. |

Oh yes, I forgot to add: What to do and eat though that should be very easy in Spain?

It's not an easy answer and everyone has different ideas. Depends what you want really.
Ronda itself is quite striking in parts but inevitably it's also got a lot of tacky tourist shops. If you go there in my opinion the best hotel is Hotel Enfrente Arte. Really really quirky and good value in a great location on the edge of town but within easy walking distance. We've been to many pueblos blancos but we stayed for over a week in Gaucin which we thought fabulous. A few of us rented a very old house for the week (La Casa de la Palmera - OMG - just beautiful - only rents for the week but check out it's website and drool!!) but for the first couple of nights we stayed in Hotel Fructuosa which again was lovely and traditional. Stupendous views, brilliant owners and a fantastic restaurant which unfortunately has restricted opening only a few nights a week (but I can't remember which). It's not cheap though but depends what you want. Check out the web for them both. |
