If you are visiting Rome and want to go to the Villa Borgese, then you have to book on their website or in person, for about 4 -5 days advance, the problem is the web site is always down!

Also if you go to the Musuem of Modern art, DO NOT go to the resturant as the waiters only speak italian and will blantantly ignore you after they establish that you are English! We walked out after waiting 1/2 hour waiting to be served. The place wasn't full and 1/2 the tables were empty.
Rome is a brilliant city and you can walk everywhere, and get up early to see some of the sights without a crowd.
We stayed in a private apartment in Santa Maria in Travastere, which has a beautiful local church and loads of resturants, which have great food although like all of Rome is exspensive.

When going to The Vatican, seek out an English speaking guide, who is American and although she charges 25 Euro then to jump the queues and as she knows the place intermatly, its worth every Euro. Do take long pants and shoulder covering shirts to see inside St Peters and the cupola, which has the finest view of Rome.

Anyone travelling from the UK can buy a bus ticket for 6 Euro at the UK airport on a Terravision coach from Campino airport to Termini station. When arriving DO NOT say yes to anyone touting for a taxi, say that you are going on a train, to get rid of them and go to the official taxi rank for a white metro taxi, which are metered and cost 5-6 Euro to the city area.

Well, George Sanders & Ingrid Bergman got on fine just speaking English in Rossellini's 'Voyage to Italy'
-e un pazzo
-who said that!
But seriously, not everyone speaks or is paid to speak English. So there may be a little problem there. Just as any non-English speaking Italian would not get very far in your local.
Would suggest you check the menu first and if its in English then the staff should be able to understand. Anyway here's a Totti'n'Beckham joke:Beckham chiede a Totti:<<Francesco, usciamo insieme stasera...Ti vengo a prendere con la Spice?>>
E Totti:<<Con l'Espace...? No, nun me piace, pijamo'a machina mia!>>.
