Does anyone know if there are problems with transport into Venice if arriving either at the weekends or in the late evening. For example, are the water buses still running ?
Thanks.

I'm afraid I don't have details, although I'm sure they'll be on the web somewhere, but Venice goes to sleep quite early and from memory, when we were there in April '03 there was not much waterbus activity after 10 p.m.

If you're arriving later than that, then you might have a bit of a walk - don't worry too much though - the city is really quite tiny - get a good map.

we were in venice in april 2003 and if my memory serves me correctly we caught the last waterbus at approximately 11.20pm. You buy a ticket from an office in the airport near the exit it is approx 10 euros each way. I believe there are no water buses after midnight. There are lots of private taxis on the marina (there is a free bus from the airport that takes you there the stop is just outside the airport exit doors) you can take a private taxi from there to st marcs sq for 60 euros. We agreed with a couple on the same flight as us we would share one if the water bus didn't show but they are very reliable.
Don't miss the Doges Palace fabulous.

Hello Jack,

There is a nightbus service within the City on the Number 1 route. I believe that it starts around midnight and the last service is at 04.30.

I visited the above City in November 2003 so my information should be quite accurate.

Please visit the following website for further information eg: waterbus map, routes, contact numbers etc:

www.venere.it/venezia/guida/trasporti.html

I hope you have a great time!

Ciao

Kevin ;-)
