Me and my boyfriend are going to Russia next week. We are spending 4 nights in Moscow and getting the train to St petersburg to spend 3 nights there. The train we are getting betwen stops at loads of places on the way and it says on some websites that you can get off at any of these points as long as you've got another train booked. We would like to do this as it will hopefully mean we get to see something of more rural Russia. However, I have no idea about the places in between and where's worth visiting and whether it is too ambitious to attempt this on our first trip to Russia when neither of us speaks any Russian. Any advice would be really welcome

Thanks

I wouldn't bother stopping at the towns along the way between Moscow and Petersburg. Spend more time in Moscow and Petersburg. Take days trips from there to places like Sergiev Posad (Moscow), Peterhof, Pushkin, Pavlovsk, Novgorod (Petersburg.)
