Boa Tarde, We just returned from a terrific week in Portugal. Landed in Lisbon, trained to Coimbra and then to Porto. Fast train - ALFA- back to Lisbon, a night in Sintra and flew out of Lisbon.

Few things: Bus 91 from the airport does NOT take TAP seat assignment stubs for free fare anymore. all of our books told us to use our ticket stubs for the free bus ride. Not the case anymore. recent change, i think. it's 3 euros to downtown per person. a taxi is about 20 euros for four people.

We recommend staying in the Praca do Restarantores area. close to Metro, TI and drop off of Bus 91. many sights and eats in the area on foot.

The map in Rough Guide for accomodations in Porto for the Grande Hotel do Porto is off by one and a half blocks. Use the address on Santa Catarina, not the map. We walked by the hotel, which doesn't have obvious signage. Very nice place to stay, with large comp breakfast.

We used three guide books: Rough Guide, Frommers and Lonely Planet. All three recommended Restaurant Alcobaça in Sintra. None of the four of us liked the place. Great deserts at the Cafe Paris in Sintra.

Visit Sintra. Beautiful place. I enjoyed Porto the most.
