We want to get a taxi from Brescia (Verona) airport to accommodation in Toscalano, Lake Garda.
Is this practical or is there a better/cheaper way? Any idea of cost (approx 40 km)? There are 6 of us,will we find a big enough taxi easily? |

we found when we were in ital that most taxis are licensed only for 4 people.
Have you considered the train. We found them very efficient, reasonable cost and reliable. |

Hi Elizabeth
My wife and I had the same problem when we visited Lake Garda last summer. Transfer to Lake Garda from any of the airports in the area is tricky and expensive, offsetting the cheapness of any low-cost flight bargain you may have obtained. A taxi from Brescia Airport to Gardone Riviera (which is near Toscolano) costs about 80 Euros for 4-6 passengers (this is one-way, of course). Alternatively, the journey is possible, though tricky, by bus. There is a bus link from Brescia Airport to Brescia Rail Station (see the links at Ryanair's website, www.ryanair.com , for details), and, from the bus station adjacent to this rail station, bus company SIA has a service to Toscolano. There is a timetable for this service on the net: type "SIA + bus + "Lake Garda"" (without outer inverted commas) into Google to find it. There is no rail route. As there are six of you, plus luggage, I would suggest that taking buses is not a practical option and I'd recommend you take a taxi. Alternatively, if you are staying at a hotel, they might be able to arrange transport for you if you contact them in advance. Good luck! Pete |
