We (a couple with a 3-year-old child) have just returned from Easter holidays in Rome, where we stayed in the "4-star" Hotel Genio (Centro Storico)for 6 nights.
We expected first-class service and facilities corresponding to the pricey rate of 240 euros/day for a double room including breakfast. Instead we found ourselves in a room with no heating (despite the cold nights), a phone which didn't work and a little fridge out of order. Besides, there was only a light switcher next to the room's front door and the bedsite lamps didn't function at all (quite complicated when getting up during the night). In addition, the bathtub did hardly flush and there was no plug in the washbasin (rather annoying when having a shaving). As for breakfast, bread was fresh every second day and the overall choice of foodstuff was very poor for the supposed standard of the hotel and the actual price charged to the customers. Even the coffee and milk served every morning were not decently warm. After complaining at the reception, we were given another room and offered a 30-euro reduction for the remaining nights. We only found out afterwards the offer had nothing to do with a discount as the second room had a shower instead of a bathtub (which made our child's bathing quite difficult). All in all, I don't recommend this hotel to anybody who want and expect the quality and service commensurate with a four-star hotel and 240 euros/night. |
