Can anyone recommend a good rail route (preferably starting in the uk or somewhere cheap uk flights land)
somthing really memorable, over a few days possibly with breaks etc - where the scenery and stops on the way are really special, i love rail travel (and hate flying!) and have done the usual over nights (paris-budapest) etc but want something a bit different - maybe morroco or iceland - any ideas? |

I've not done it myself, but the St Petersburg -> Vladivostock train journey is supposed to be THE ultimate train ride (think in total it's about 12 days).
That might be outside the scope of your trip, but worth a look nonetheless. http://www.trans-siberia.com/ is a reasonable site. Richard ============================== Richard Fletcher The Travel Monkey - FREE advice on tickets, accommodation, scams and more! www.thetravelmonkey.net |

I won't recommend a specific rail journey, I have so many favourites, but I will recommend a magazine about off the beaten track European travel which has run quite a few really good arcicles about train journeys across Europe. Hidden Europe - its got a decent search function and the magazine is really well written, so worth a shot if you're looking for something a little less ordinary.....
